updated update

In my previous update (see Feb. 5) I explained how I got a new job, how happy I was and that thinkgs were looking up. I didn't mention how the company had just been bought by another company. Well the "merger" made my job obsolete and, as of today, I am unemployed.

Update

It's been a while and I read that last entry and knew it was time for an update.
In October, the company I was working for gave me a weeks notice.
I immediately started emailing everyone I could think of asking if there were any openings where they were at. One of them replied with a posting and I sent my resume in with a cover letter mentioning several people I know who work there. One of them seemed to have a little "pull". I was hired!
I have been here since the end of October and love it! I'm a "PC Specialist" and... bonus... now make four grand a year more than I made at the last... (more)

Money Issues... redux

Things were just looking up when I'm told I must cut my hours at work from 40 to 32.
I was barely making ends meet at 40 hours.
I advised them that I would have to look for a part-time job and if I did find something, I would not be able to leave that job to come in if there was a problem. Their reply was "do what you have to do"
I'm looking for a job... part or full. What ever works. So far out of 10 applications... one interview.
I'm thinking of again applying for assistance (got turned down the first time.)

Adventures in plumbing

My kitchen faucet has been dripping. My guy got it to stop but it started again after a few months and lo and behold last Sunday, the handle came off in my hand!
I went out and bought a new one and my daughter and I read the instructions and said "we can do this". So we went about removing the old one that has been there for I think a good 20 years, maybe? It didn't want to come out but after lots of sweat and swearing, we did it. The new one went in pretty easy and we now have a shiney new kitchen faucet. And we are so proud of ourselves because we did it!

Here I am again...

So money problems... a bit easier because my brother and sister got together and paid off the balance on the mortgage. I no longer have a house payment to make. I do have to make sure I place money into savings toward taxes and insurance each month. It helps so much and I'm so grateful to them.
Now it's been nearly a year at my new/old job and I'm still happy here. No raise and I don't think the place is financially able to give out raises (I always drop my paycheck on the floor before I deposit it to see if it bounces first **grin**)
Trying to lose some of the pounds I've packed on in... (more)

What can I say. I'm back in my old stomping grounds. That is to say, I am again a Network Administrator (tho' more a computer operator at this point.) Back with a company I worked for years past.

I could be making more money but.. really, money isn't everything. You make some sacrifices.

I have a beautiful daughter. She doesn't want to go of to college or get a job but we need to work on making her into a productive member of the human race. All in all she's a great person, nice to have around.

I'm very much in love with Mike. I wish he could commit to me but I know he has things to... (more)

Speaking of the ever-present stupid politicians

Bush is trying to tell us how to save our money, who we can marry and how to die.
Is this what we want from a president? Do we want him as our watchdog, in our bedrooms, hospital rooms, and personal lives telling us how to live?
Apparently that is how many Americans feel. He was re-elected by a large percentage of the population.
I feel like I am simply “spitting in the wind”. No one listens. I have written to our president, vice-president, senators and congressmen to no avail. I can understand why anarchists come to being. How do you get them to listen? I need to read the words of Gandhi... (more)

I am ALIVE!!

So gentle readers, I'm sure all thought I was dead from what ever illness I had. Not so. I am alive. Since that post I got better had a nice Christmas, applied for a position with a company I worked for back almost ten years ago, got turned down by said company only to be called back a couple of months later for an interview. I am back in my chosen field of endeavor as a network administrator. I am so thrilled to be doing what I like to do and to be out from under the very oppressive environment I had been working in. I cannot recall how many times I drove home in tears from the "hell" I was... (more)

Sick

I was worried that I wouldn't get Thanksgiving off. It's only been a couple of years since mom died and this was just the second Thanksgiving. Joy and happiness! I did get it off... and got sick. Don't know what this is but it's making me misrable. Aches, chills, sore throat, congestion... couldn't sleep last night and I called in sick to work. I felt bad about this and hate using my PTO like that. I'd rather use it for fun things, trips with my guy for instance.
